Colin Brayton is a translator, editor, researcher and writer-reporter with more than a decade of varied experience in financial, trade and general-interest publishing in New York City.
Colin earned a B.A. in philosophy & literature from Pomona College and an M.A. in comparative literature from the University of California, Berkeley, where he advanced to candidacy and completed doctoral studies in medieval studies, historical linguistics, intellectual history, and related subjects.
Colin moved to New York in 1996, where he freelanced as a desktop publisher, graphic designer, and publishing supervisor at a number of league-chart financial institutions; freelanced as a copy editor at a wide range of general-interest and trade publications, ranging from dailies to monthlies; and last worked full-time as the managing editor and interim editor in chief of a weekly journal covering operations, technology and regulatory issues in the global financial services industry.
He began spending time in Brazil in 2000, and has freelanced for a number of Lusophone academic, government and business clients -- most recently in the area of investor relations, where he advised a local IR consultancy on implementing a simple but effective terminology management and editorial quality program. He married the local writer and journalist Neuza Paranhos in 2004. The couple has too many cats and dogs.
At the moment, we are stringing for a couple of London and New York-based business newswires and doing spot translation projects for local clients. We are always looking for local and global partners to help us expand our menu of services.
